Join the FEC's George Smaragdis for an hourlong review of the agency's web site Tuesday Sept. 26 at 9 a.m. in the Library training center. He will discuss how to track outside spending (on TV and radio) by PACs, parties and unregistered organazations; different ways to search for data on the FEC website; and changes in the campaign finance rules since the last election. Five high-profile women from the worlds of public service and journalism will share the stage to discuss “Modern Families, Outdated Laws.” Co-hosted by the National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA) and the National Press Club Newsmakers Committee, this panel discussion will highlight outdated tax, labor and employee benefit laws, including health care and retirement policy, and the tough choices modern families face. Panelists include former White House press secretary Dee Dee Myers, Wall Street Journal editorial writer Kim Strassel, co-author of Leaving Women Behind, author of Mommy Wars Leslie Morgan Steiner, Lyric Winik of Parade magazine and Karen Czarnecki of the Department of Labor.
