To discuss

Current Economic Conditions and Recent Government Actions, Implications for the Government's Future Finances, and Positions of the Major-Party Presidential Nominees

The Hon. David M. Walker will speak about the bailout controversy, the challenges facing the nation's economy, lessons learned, and the implications for the short and long-term future. He will also speak about conditions that led to the downfall of major institutions like Bear Stearns, AIG and Lehman Brothers and how they bear an alarming resemblance to the challenges facing our federal government's finances.

On the heels of the previous night's presidential debate, Walker will also comment on both Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama's stated economic proposals and discuss the results of a new "bottom-line" analysis related to their respective plans.

Addison Wiggin will discuss the evolution of "I.O.U.S.A.", a critically acclaimed film dubbed by the media as "An Inconvenient Truth for the U.S. economy," and his newly published companion book of the same name.

**A brief clip from the film I.O.U.S.A. will be shown and complimentary copies of the companion book will be made available at the event. _____________________________________________ CONTACTS: National Press Club: Carrie Conko, (703) 993-4899, cconko@gmu.edu Peter G.
